2025 Alfa Romeo Stelvio
The clock is winding down for the unveiling of the second-generation Alfa Romeo Stelvio, anticipated to debut later this year, and not a moment too soon. The current model has been showing its age for some time, and a comprehensive update in design, technology, and the introduction of an electric powertrain option is exactly what the brand needs to stay competitive.
While Alfa Romeo has yet to release official imagery, our first look at the upcoming SUV has come via patent filings. Now, independent renderings are offering an even clearer vision of what the next-generation Stelvio could look like on the road.
These illustrations are the work of digital artists Theophilus Chin and Nikita Chuyko for Kolesa, both of whom are renowned for producing strikingly accurate previews of future production vehicles. Their latest interpretations are informed by previous spy shots and the most recent patent diagrams, with added touches of color for visual flair.
Refined Yet Recognizable
The new Italian SUV signals a clear evolution from its predecessor, yet retains core Alfa Romeo design cues like the iconic scudetto grille and updated signature lighting graphics.
At the front, split lighting units showcase slim daytime running lights, while the main headlamps are subtly integrated into triangular bumper inlets. The revised grille also accommodates a centrally placed license plate, an idea borrowed from the smaller Alfa Romeo Junior.
Along the profile, the Stelvio adopts a more polished silhouette. Highlights include a more streamlined roofline, a contrasting bi-tone paint scheme, flush door handles, and large alloy wheels.
These elements shift the aesthetic closer to the coupe-SUV realm without going fully fastback. At the rear, a striking full-width LED taillight design, which forms a triangular motif and partially extends into the tailgate, echoes the look of the front fascia.

The two artists took subtly different paths in their visual interpretations. Kelsonik refined his earlier renders for Kolesa by incorporating more precise details from the leaked patents.
Meanwhile, Theottle offered his own take with slightly varied styling cues, although he nailed the overall proportions by using the Jeep Wagoneer S platform as a reference, on which the new Stelvio will be based.
The upcoming Stelvio will be underpinned by Stellantis’ STLA Large architecture, a platform it will share with the Jeep Wagoneer S, Recon, and Dodge Charger.
This modular base supports both hybrid and fully electric powertrains. As a result, Maserati will remain the last brand to utilize the Giorgio platform, which originally debuted with the outgoing Giulia and Stelvio.
What’s Under the Hood?
Initial rumors suggested the high-performance Stelvio Quadrifoglio might make the leap to a fully electric powertrain. However, recent reports indicate the twin-turbocharged 2.9-liter V6 engine may live on.
That would likely come as a relief to longtime Alfa Romeo enthusiasts who value the brand’s mechanical character and visceral driving experience. Ideally, the new Stelvio will also inherit the precise chassis tuning of its predecessor, which played a major role in establishing its reputation as one of the most engaging SUVs in its class.
The full reveal of the new Stelvio is expected in the coming months. Once launched, it will join Alfa Romeo’s expanding SUV range, positioned above the Junior and Tonale. As for the next Giulia, it is reportedly slated for a 2026 release and may shift from a traditional sedan layout to a sleeker, fastback-inspired crossover design.
