It feels like just yesterday we were celebrating Audi’s decision to bring the RS6 Avant wagon to the U.S. for the 2021 model year. Now, four years later, the current RS6—along with the entire A6 lineup—is nearing the end of its production cycle, making way for a new generation of Audi’s mid-size luxury car. Will the next-gen A6 family include another RS6 Avant? Most likely. But will it keep the twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8? That’s far less certain.
What Makes the RS6 Avant GT Special
As a result, the limited-production 2025 RS6 Avant GT could serve as a fitting farewell to Audi’s V-8-powered wagons. With only 660 units being built worldwide—85 of which are allocated to the U.S.—the RS6 Avant GT carries a price tag of $200,195. Under the hood, it shares the 621-hp twin-turbo V-8, eight-speed automatic transmission, and all-wheel-drive system with the $127,895 RS6 Avant Performance. However, the GT is far more than just an aesthetic upgrade, even though its exterior design changes are among the most striking. These include redesigned front and rear fascias, a prominent rear wing, and six-spoke 22-inch wheels. U.S.-spec GT models come in Arkona white with red and black graphics, complemented by white six-spoke wheels.
Beyond the visual enhancements, the GT eliminates the roof rails found on standard RS6 Avants and comes equipped with carbon-ceramic brakes as standard—an option that costs $8,500 on the RS6 Avant Performance. It also features a carbon-fiber hood and front fenders, the latter incorporating a vent behind the front wheels to reduce air pressure within the wheel arches and help cool the brakes. Thanks to these weight-saving measures, the RS6 Avant GT is approximately 88 pounds lighter than the Performance variant.

This reduction in mass contributes to the GT’s ability to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.2 seconds—0.1 second quicker than the slightly heavier Performance model, according to Audi. Given that a 2021 RS6 Avant previously clocked a 3.1-second run in testing, Audi’s acceleration figures may actually be on the conservative side.
But the GT isn’t just faster—it’s also more dynamic. Key improvements include a bespoke Dynamic drive mode calibration for the torque-vectoring rear differential, 30 percent stiffer front and 80 percent stiffer rear anti-roll bars, and a GT-exclusive coil-over suspension system. Both the ride height and three-way adjustable dampers can be manually tuned. In its default setting, the GT sits 0.4 inches lower than the RS6 Avant Performance.
Driving Audi’s High-Performance Wagon in Germany
During our drive in Germany, we weren’t able to confirm the damper setting on the RS6 Avant GT we tested, but we suspect it was in its softest configuration. Even so, the GT tackled every roundabout and sweeping highway on-ramp with enthusiasm. Body roll was nearly nonexistent—flatter than Kazakhstan’s income tax rate—while the light yet communicative steering allowed us to confidently explore the grip limits of the Continental WinterContact TS860 S winter tires. While the GT is equipped with Continental SportContact 7 summer tires as standard, Audi opted to fit winter rubber on our test car in preparation for the typically cold, overcast March weather in Wolfsburg. Ironically, the day of our drive was unseasonably warm and sunny, with temperatures in the mid-50s.

Out on the autobahn in Dynamic mode, the RS6 Avant GT felt completely at home, barreling down unrestricted sections of highway with the V-8 emitting a throaty growl as it surged toward its 6,750-rpm redline. Each upshift was punctuated by a forceful shove from the transmission, adding to the visceral experience.
Admittedly, much of this exhilaration can also be found in the RS6 Avant Performance. But the RS6 Avant GT is a car that disregards pure logic in favor of emotion. It serves as a tribute to everything this generation of the RS6 set out to accomplish—delivering the thrill of a dedicated sports car in the body of a practical wagon. With its aggressive styling, lowered stance, and unwavering commitment to performance, the 2025 Audi RS6 Avant GT is a bold final statement for the fifth-generation A6 lineup, celebrating the raw appeal of V-8 power fused with everyday versatility.
