The 2025 Porsche Panamera sedan features a front-mounted engine and an extra set of doors, however its driving dynamics reveal its close relationship with the legendary 911 sports car. Under the hood, a turbocharged V-6 generates 348 horsepower, paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that delivers power to either the rear wheels or all four.
What’s New for 2025?
For 2025, Porsche expands the Panamera lineup with two plug-in hybrid models and a performance-oriented GTS trim. The 4 E-Hybrid delivers 463 horsepower via an all-wheel-drive powertrain, while the 4S E-Hybrid produces 536 horsepower. Meanwhile, the GTS boasts a 493-horsepower twin-turbocharged V-8 and features a sport-tuned suspension that sits lower and is more rigid than standard models.
These new variants retain the refreshed styling and chassis updates introduced in 2024. An exclusive feature for E-Hybrid models is an active suspension system, which employs hydraulic pumps to quickly adjust to road conditions, ensuring a composed ride even during aggressive maneuvers.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
The standard Panamera and Panamera 4 share a 2.9-liter turbocharged V-6 producing 348 horsepower, paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. While the base model sends power to the rear wheels, the Panamera 4 offers all-wheel drive. The plug-in E-Hybrid models retain this V-6 but integrate an electric motor, boosting power to 463 horsepower in the 4 E-Hybrid and 536 horsepower in the 4S E-Hybrid.

For those prioritizing performance, the GTS model is powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 churning out 493 horsepower. It features a stiffer suspension with enhanced anti-roll bars and a ride height lowered by 0.4 inches. Our test drive of the GTS highlighted its impressive acceleration, though the firmer suspension led to a notably stiff ride. The hybrid models, in contrast, exhibited minimal performance differences compared to their predecessors.
All Panamera variants come standard with an adaptive air-spring suspension. Optional features include rear-wheel steering and an active suspension system for E-Hybrid models, which uses the car’s 400-volt electrical system to control hydraulic pumps at each damper, significantly reducing body roll. While the Panamera rides firmer than other large luxury sedans, it stays true to its sporty nature. For even sharper handling, Sport and Sport Plus modes further tighten the suspension settings.
Range, Charging, and Battery Life
The 4 E-Hybrid and 4S E-Hybrid are equipped with a 21.8-kWh battery pack and an 11-kW onboard AC charger. Porsche estimates a full recharge takes about 2.5 hours on an AC charger. Additionally, the V-6 engine can recharge the battery to 80% capacity while driving above 34 mph. A fully charged battery should offer an estimated 30 miles of electric-only driving range.

Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
The Panamera’s interior can be configured with either four individual bucket seats or a five-seat bench layout. Standard leather upholstery can be upgraded to more exclusive materials that extend across the seats, doors, dashboard, and steering wheel. The front seats offer power adjustments, with available comfort- or sport-focused designs to cater to different driving preferences. Rear passengers will find ample space for long trips, though three adults may feel squeezed. The large trunk provides enough room for luggage or a full week’s worth of groceries.
