While many electric sedans boast blistering straight-line acceleration, the 2025 Porsche Taycan sets itself apart by combining that raw power with sports-car precision. This year, the most potent version of the Taycan cranks out an astonishing 1019 horsepower. Its four-door design allows you to bring passengers along for the exhilarating ride, but with a snug rear seat and limited cargo space, they’ll need to pack light.
Inside, a dashboard filled with digital displays offers easy access to vital information for both the driver and front passenger, featuring customizable gauges and an intuitive infotainment system. Depending on the trim and options selected, the Taycan can range from minimalistic to ultra-luxurious, with nearly endless customization choices.
What’s New for 2025?
For 2025, the Taycan receives a subtle exterior refresh, including tweaks to the front bumper, headlights, fenders, and taillights. However, the most notable changes lie beneath the surface. Porsche has made enhancements to improve DC fast-charging speeds, allowing us to charge a test vehicle from 8% to 80% in just under 17 minutes, with a peak rate of 327 kW.

EV Motor, Power, and Performance
With the exception of the base model, which features a single rear-mounted motor, all other Taycan variants come with dual electric motors—one driving the front wheels and another powering the rear.
- Base Taycan & Taycan 4: 402–429 hp
- 4S: 536 hp
- GTS: 690 hp
- Turbo S: 938 hp (with launch control), 764 hp (normal driving)
- Turbo GT: 1019 hp (with launch control), 777 hp (normal driving)
Every Taycan employs a two-speed direct-drive transmission, a key factor in its swift acceleration and impressive efficiency. The standard air-spring suspension delivers a comfortable ride, and all-wheel-drive models can be equipped with adaptive dampers. The Taycan stands out with its low driving position, responsive steering, and precise handling, making it one of the most engaging electric cars available.
0–60 MPH Performance
Porsche has improved the Taycan’s electric motors for 2025, making every variant quicker.

- Base RWD Taycan: 0–60 mph in 4.1 seconds
- Taycan 4S (previously tested): 3.4 seconds (2025 model may be even quicker)
- Turbo S: As fast as 2.1 seconds
- Turbo GT: 1.9 seconds (our test model wasn’t even fitted with the Weissach package, which could make it even quicker)
The Turbo S was already blisteringly fast, achieving 0–60 mph in 2.4 seconds in our previous test with “only” 750 hp—we’re eager to see what it can do now with 938 hp.
Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
The Taycan’s cabin is a high-tech, driver-focused space that mirrors the premium feel of other Porsche models. Buyers can choose from a variety of luxury materials and color schemes, with options like:
- Four-zone climate control
- Massaging front seats
- Heated front and rear seats
- Optional third rear seat (tight fit for three passengers)
Though the Taycan’s low seating position enhances its sporty feel, it can make entry and exit challenging. The rear seats and cargo space are more limited than in competitors. However, forward visibility from the driver’s seat is excellent.
