TOYOTA GAZOO Racing (TGR) has begun accepting orders in Japan for the updated GR Yaris. This reworked version of the high-performance hatchback incorporates insights gained from competitive racing, including the Super Taikyu Series and the Japanese Rally Championship, resulting in enhancements that elevate both performance and driver engagement.
A major highlight of the update is the enhanced GAZOO Racing Direct Automatic Transmission. Toyota has refined gear shift control, sharpened throttle response for dynamic driving, and optimized shift timing for full-throttle acceleration. The connection between driver and machine has also been reinforced with sturdier chassis bolts, updated suspension tuning, and improved steering feedback — all developed in collaboration with professional drivers.

Additionally, TGR revealed that an Aero Performance Package — initially previewed as a concept at the 2025 Tokyo Auto Salon — will be available as a factory-installed option starting this autumn. Born from extensive motorsports testing, the package features a vented aluminum hood, front lip spoiler, fender ducts, fuel tank undercovers, a variable rear wing, and rear bumper vents. These components improve downforce, stability, and cooling performance while maintaining everyday practicality.

All variants of the GR Yaris now come standard with Toyota Safety Sense, and a rally-inspired vertical parking brake is available throughout the range. In Japan, pricing starts at ¥3,560,000 JPY (approximately $24,886 USD) for the manual RC trim and extends to ¥5,330,000 JPY (around $37,261 USD) for the automatic RZ “High Performance” version. Deliveries are scheduled to commence on May 6.
