The MG Cyberster first hit the scene in 2023, but the SAIC-owned brand is already preparing updates for the 2026 model year in China. One of the standout additions is the introduction of a new 2+2 coupe variant, fittingly called the Cyber GTS.
From a visual standpoint, the coupe closely mirrors the MG Cyber GTS concept that was showcased at last year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed. However, it replaces the concept’s alloy wheels with more production-friendly alternatives. Although the coupe shares much of its bodywork with the roadster, the fixed roof and newly designed rear end make it even more visually impactful.
A Tribute to British Heritage
The coupe’s greenhouse design evokes the styling of the now-discontinued Jaguar F-Type, maintaining the British tradition (even under Chinese ownership) of crafting sleek, performance-focused coupes. Without the engineering demands of a convertible roof and with the addition of a sculpted roofline, the Cyber GTS adopts a 2+2 seating arrangement, delivering greater practicality compared to its open-top sibling.

MG’s design chief, Jozef Kaban, stated that the enthusiastic response to the concept played a major role in the decision to move forward with production of the Cyber GTS. As reported by Autocar after speaking with Kaban, the car is slated for launch in October 2025, potentially aligning with the 60th anniversary of the iconic MG B GT.
MG Cyber GTS Concept: From Concept to Reality
MG’s electric sports coupe is officially heading into production this year, marking a major step forward for the brand’s electrification efforts.
Alongside the launch of the new coupe variant, the MG Cyberster roadster is also set to receive a series of updates. Although its signature exterior design — including the distinctive upward-opening doors — remains largely unchanged, the available color options have expanded to include two new shades: Iris Green and Andes Gray. Additionally, MG is introducing a special edition called Cyberster Black, featuring exclusive new alloy wheels.
Inside the cabin, the Cyberster roadster benefits from several refinements. New upholstery options now include black/red and gray/white combinations. Other enhancements include the addition of electric lumbar support for both front seats, a newly designed wind deflector, and an upgraded voice recognition system for improved functionality.

Chassis Enhancements and Battery Updates
According to Chinese media outlet, the 2026 MG Cyberster will feature revised chassis tuning and enhanced battery life. However, there is no confirmation yet regarding updates to the electric powertrain or changes to the battery options. For context, the current Cyberster offers two powertrain configurations: a rear-wheel-drive model producing 335 hp (250 kW / 340 PS) and an all-wheel-drive variant generating 536 hp (400 kW / 544 PS). Battery choices currently include 64 kWh and 77 kWh packs.
As the 2026 MG Cyberster and Cyber GTS near their launch in the Chinese market, more information is expected to surface. MG also has plans to expand its “Cyber” lineup further, with the upcoming production version of the CyberX electric SUV set to bolster the brand’s electric vehicle offerings in the near future.
