The Trump administration is discontinuing EV charging stations at all federal government buildings and is also expected to liquidate the General Services Administration’s (GSA) newly acquired electric vehicles.
The GSA, responsible for managing federal government-owned buildings, also oversees the operation of EV charging stations at these locations. Currently, around 8,000 charging ports support federally owned EVs as well as the personal EVs of federal employees.

A source has disclosed that an official announcement is expected internally next week. Additionally, the publication has reviewed an email from the GSA, already sent to regional offices, outlining the plan:
“As GSA has worked to align with the current administration, we have received direction that all GSA-owned charging stations are not mission-critical.”
The GSA is now coordinating the termination of network contracts that keep the EV chargers running. Once those contracts are canceled, the stations will be decommissioned and “turned off at the breaker,” the email states. Additional stations will go offline starting next week.

“Neither Government Owned Vehicles nor Privately Owned Vehicles will be able to charge at these charging stations once they’re out of service.”
Colorado Public Radio was the first to report on the email, which was sent to the Denver Federal Center—a facility with 22 EV charging stations spread across 11 locations.
Additionally, the Trump/Elon Musk administration has entirely removed the GSA’s fleet electrification webpage.
