Tesla experienced a significant drop in sales of its China-made electric vehicles in February 2025. The U.S. automaker recorded 30,688 wholesale units sold, marking a sharp 51.47% decrease from the 63,238 units sold in January and a 49.16% decline compared to the 60,365 vehicles sold wholesale in February 2024.
Figures from the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) reflect Tesla China’s performance for February 2025.

Tesla China’s 2025 Sales:
The decline in Tesla China’s February 2025 wholesale figures comes as the company transitions to the updated Model Y, which remains its best-selling vehicle in the country. In preparation for the new Model Y’s first deliveries at the end of February, Tesla China likely focused on clearing out its inventory of the previous Model Y version, which contributed to reduced sales of the all-electric crossover for the month.
For the first two months of 2025, Tesla China’s combined wholesale sales reached 93,926 units. This represents a 28.74% decline compared to the 131,812 units sold wholesale during the same period in 2024.

The New Model Y:
Tesla China officially launched the updated Model Y on January 10, 2025. At the time of its announcement, the company projected that initial deliveries of the new all-electric crossover would take place in March 2025. However, Tesla China commenced deliveries earlier than expected, beginning on February 26, 2025.
The latest Model Y features several key upgrades over its predecessor. Enhancements include a redesigned exterior with a more aggressive appearance, as well as improvements to the interior that address many of the concerns raised about the previous version’s cabin. Notable updates also include a refined suspension system and enhanced sound insulation, which contribute to a smoother and quieter ride experience.
