Honda Next Generation
Honda has revealed a range of next-generation technologies for its electrified vehicle lineup during the Automotive Technology Workshop, highlighting advancements in hybrid platforms, large-size hybrid systems, and compact electric vehicle (EV) innovations. The automaker intends to introduce models featuring these technologies starting in 2026.
The upcoming mid-size hybrid platform is scheduled to debut in 2027 and will deliver significant improvements over current versions.
Through a redesigned body structure and refined engineering techniques, the platform achieves a weight reduction of 90 kilograms. Additionally, Honda aims to attain more than 60% parts commonality across models using this modular architecture, enhancing production efficiency and versatility.
For the North American market, Honda is developing a new large-sized hybrid system designed for D-segment and larger vehicles, set to launch in the latter half of the 2020s.

The system is expected to deliver over 30% better fuel efficiency and more than 10% improved acceleration compared to current internal combustion engine (ICE) models, showcasing Honda’s commitment to performance and sustainability.
Meanwhile, the Super-ONE Prototype compact EV will be the first of Honda’s new electric models, launching in Japan in 2026 before expanding to the UK and other Asian markets.
Built on Honda’s N Series platform, the compact EV will include an exclusive “Boost Mode” that simulates a seven-speed transmission, complemented by active sound control to enhance the driving experience.
Honda continues to emphasize its dual focus on environmental sustainability and safety, aligning with its goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. The company is committed to advancing its position in both the electric and hybrid vehicle segments while staying true to its core philosophy of delivering the “joy of driving.”
