The end of an era is approaching. As announced in 2022, Alpina will discontinue its lineup after December 31, 2025, officially becoming part of BMW. But before the legendary tuner merges fully with the automaker, it has unveiled one of its most potent creations yet: the BMW Alpina B8 GT.
This special edition, based on the four-door 8 Series Gran Coupe, pays homage to Alpina’s founder, Burkard Bovensiepen, who established the brand in 1965.
Only 99 units of the B8 GT will be produced, making it a fitting tribute to Alpina’s legacy. Is this the last true Alpina before it becomes fully integrated into BMW? It’s certainly possible.

Power and Performance
Under the hood lies a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, the same powerhouse found in the Alpina B5 GT. It delivers an impressive 625bhp and a colossal 627lb-ft of torque. To achieve these numbers, Alpina has equipped the engine with two new air boxes, a retuned ECU, increased turbo boost pressure, and a de-throttled air intake.
The Alpina sports exhaust system completes the setup, ensuring the B8 GT sounds as good as it performs.
These upgrades enable the B8 GT to accelerate from 0-62mph in just 3.3 seconds and reach a top speed of 205mph.
The ZF eight-speed automatic transmission has been reprogrammed to handle the extra power, while a revised launch control system ensures optimal acceleration. Additionally, an optimized transfer case directs more torque to the rear wheels, ideal for those who appreciate a touch of oversteer.
Refined Dynamics
Alpina has refined the suspension to provide a more distinct differentiation between Comfort, Sport, and Sport+ modes compared to the standard BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe.
The result is a more tailored driving experience, whether you’re cruising or pushing the car to its limits.

Exclusive Features
Every B8 GT buyer will also receive a Carl F. Bucherer 43mm watch, complete with a blue dial, black leather strap, Alpina logos, and a nod to the brand’s iconic wheel design on the back.
Inside, the B8 GT’s cabin is a showcase of luxury and craftsmanship. Burkard Bovensiepen’s signature is embroidered on the front seat backrests, while full leather upholstery, Alcantara seat panels, and walnut wood trim elevate the interior.
Contrast stitching, aluminium shift paddles, an Alcantara headliner, and special edition plaques add to the exclusivity.
Subtle Yet Striking Design
The B8 GT stands out with understated yet purposeful styling changes. New air intakes in the grille, dive planes near the front wheels, and a pronounced carbon rear diffuser give it a sporty edge. Classic 21-inch Alpina forged wheels not only enhance the aesthetics but also house the brand’s high-performance braking system.
For 20 of the 99 cars, Alpina offers an optional two-tone paint scheme featuring Alpina Blue or Alpina Green paired with a Black Sapphire roof, bonnet, and bootlid. Other buyers can choose from seven additional paint finishes, including the eye-catching “Purple Silk.”
A Price for Legacy
As exceptional as the B8 GT is, its exclusivity comes at a cost. Priced at €225,000 (around £190,000), it’s undoubtedly an investment. However, as potentially the last true Alpina before its full merger with BMW, it represents a piece of automotive history—a fitting farewell to a legendary brand.
