BYD’s premium brand Denza has officially introduced the N9 aiming to compete in the large luxury SUV market.
The hybrid SUV was unveiled at an event in Shenzhen today, with two variants available at starting prices of RMB 389,800 ($53,770) and RMB 449,800, respectively.
The official pricing comes in significantly lower than the pre-sale price range of RMB 450,000 to RMB 550,000, which was initially announced on February 21.
Specifications and Competitors
As Denza’s flagship model, the six-seat hybrid SUV boasts dimensions of 5,258 mm in length, 2,030 mm in width, and 1,830 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,125 mm.
Based on its size and price, the Denza N9’s primary rivals include the Li L9 from Li Auto, which has a starting price of RMB 409,800, and Aito’s M9, which begins at RMB 469,800.
Li Auto is expected to officially introduce an updated version of the Li L9 in May, while the 2025 facelifted Aito M9 was launched on March 20.

Performance and Technology
The Denza N9 is powered by BYD’s e3 technology, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds.
BYD’s e3 technology is essentially a scaled-down adaptation of its e4 technology, originally developed for ultra-luxury vehicles. This system features three independent electric motors and rear-wheel steering for enhanced performance.
Denza first introduced e3 technology in the Denza Z9GT, which was launched on September 20, 2024. The Z9 sedan, which debuted last November, also incorporates the same technology.
Under the hood, the Denza N9 is equipped with a 2.0 T engine that delivers a maximum power of 152 kW, while its combined motor power reaches 680 kW.
The model comes with a 47-kWh battery pack, offering a CLTC-rated battery range of 200 kilometers. When fully charged and fueled, the total driving range exceeds 1,300 kilometers.

Smart Features and Other Denza Models
The Denza N9 is integrated with BYD’s DiSus-A body control system, a specialized branch of the DiSus system featuring air suspension for high-end models.
For intelligent driving, the SUV is equipped with BYD’s God’s Eye B system and utilizes the DiPilot 300 smart driving solution.
The hardware package supporting these features includes one LiDAR, five millimeter-wave radars, 12 ultrasonic radars, and 12 cameras. These enable the vehicle to perform NOA (Navigate on Autopilot) in both urban environments and highways, along with automated and valet parking capabilities.
Apart from the N9, Denza’s current lineup also includes the N7 SUV and the D9 MPV (multi-purpose vehicle).
In terms of sales performance, Denza delivered 8,513 vehicles in February, marking an 85.15% increase year-over-year but a 27.36% decline compared to January, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
From January to February, Denza’s total deliveries reached 20,233 units, reflecting a year-on-year growth of 48.05%.
