New York Governor Kathy Hochul announced today that the state will provide a $60 million loan to Revel to expand its EV charging infrastructure across New York City.
The loan comes from NY Green Bank (NYGB), a division of the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) that focuses on clean energy investments. Revel, the city’s largest public DC fast-charging provider, will use this funding to significantly expand its network. This marks NYGB’s first investment in EV charging infrastructure.
With this financing, Revel will more than triple its current public fast-charging network in New York City by 2025. The funds will support the construction of 267 new charging stalls across nine locations and facilitate the planning and development of additional EV charging stations.

Revel plans to complete construction on 178 of these charging stalls within the next 12 months, while the remainder will be finished by 2027. Locations and capacities for these new stations are as follows, with asterisks denoting sites in disadvantaged communities:
- Maspeth, Queens – 60 stalls, making it the largest fast-charging station in the Northeast U.S.
- Near LaGuardia Airport – 44 stalls, becoming the largest fast-charging station near a U.S. airport*
- John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) – 24 stalls, establishing the largest charging station at the airport*
- Greenpoint, Brooklyn – 30 stalls
- Port Morris, Bronx – 20 stalls*
Revel began construction at JFK Airport in November, adjacent to the main rideshare vehicle waiting area, with support from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. Thanks to NYGB funding, the company can now complete the 24 charging stalls at this site, which is set to open in Q1 2025. Once operational, it is expected to be one of the busiest EV charging stations in the country.
Doreen M. Harris, president and CEO of NYSERDA, emphasized the importance of expanding charging infrastructure, stating, “Increasing the state’s charging capabilities is a step forward in ensuring New Yorkers can plug in and drive clean, and we commend Revel’s leadership in this regard in a major hub and in high-impact locations such as major airports.”

Revel’s charging stations are available to the public 24/7 and are compatible with all EV makes and models. All new locations will feature chargers with a minimum speed of 320 kilowatts (kW).
