Tesla has officially launched the more affordable, non–Launch Edition variant of the updated Model Y in both the United States and Canada. The new version is priced from $49,000 before incentives.
When Tesla initially opened up orders for the refreshed Model Y in North America and Europe in late January, it was exclusively for a special “Launch Edition” of the Long Range All-Wheel Drive (AWD) model.
The Launch Edition carried a starting price of $60,000, which is relatively high for a Model Y. This was due to Tesla including all available options in the package, such as the $8,000 Full Self-Driving (FSD) feature—an add-on that many Tesla customers typically opt not to purchase.

Last week, we reported that Tesla had begun production of the standard, non–Launch Edition version of the updated Model Y. However, the company had not yet started accepting orders for this version at the time.
Our assumption then was that Tesla still had remaining inventory of the Launch Edition models and would begin offering the standard version shortly after the close of the quarter.
As anticipated, Tesla has now opened orders for the non–Launch Edition Model Y Long Range AWD.
According to Tesla, delivery within the U.S. is expected to take between 1 and 3 weeks. The same estimated timeline applies to Canada, where the new Model Y is listed at a price of $70,000 CAD.

This pricing aligns closely with the U.S. figure when converted, which may indicate that Tesla does not expect to face any import tariffs in the Canadian market.
Alongside the rollout of the non–Launch Edition Model Y, Tesla is also debuting a new paint option called Diamond Black. This color is now available for both the Model Y and Model 3.
According to Tesla’s online configurator, all configurations of the Model Y and Model 3—including those finished in the new Diamond Black color—are available with an estimated delivery window of 1 to 3 weeks.
